St.Matthews Library and City Hall Addition and Renovation

The project involves the construction of a significant expansion of the St. Matthews Library and renovation of part of the existing St. Matthews City Hall which the Library occupies, overall site redevelopment encompassing the full campus and a geo thermal well field and accompany infrastructure to service the full facility. Also, part of the new construction of storage space for use by the St. Matthews Police Department.

The project will include extensive renovation in the parts of City Hall not to be used for Library functions, including St. Matthews Police Department, City of St. Matthews Administrative Offices, St. Matthews Historical Society, St. Matthews Chamber of Commerce and assorted meeting  and support space for these user groups.

The cost of $17.8 million to develop and construct, replaces the Westport Road branch and has more than 120,000 books and other materials, including audio and visual recordings. The library will provide service to more than 170,000 East End residents.

Of the cost, $14 million was covered by city and state funds while the remaining $3.8 million was raised through private donations. The official ground breaking occurred on September 21, 2017 on the new 40,000-square-foot Northeast Regional Library located on Bellevoir Circle off Ormsby Station near the Northeast YMCA.

Louisville Southwest Library

Sullivan Cozart was the General Contractor for the spectacular new $14 million Southwest Regional Library which is now open and drawing users of all ages.  It is the first of three regional libraries planned for Louisville.  The space includes library areas for children, teens and adults, office space, a story time reading area, and 150 public computer stations.  To view a slide show of photos, click here or visit the library at 9725 Dixie Highway.
