The cost of $17.8 million to develop and construct, replaces the Westport Road branch and has more than 120,000 books and other materials, including audio and visual recordings. The library will provide service to more than 170,000 East End residents.
Of the cost, $14 million was covered by city and state funds while the remaining $3.8 million was raised through private donations. The official ground breaking occurred on September 21, 2017 on the new 40,000-square-foot Northeast Regional Library located on Bellevoir Circle off Ormsby Station near the Northeast YMCA.
